How to open a .vce file on iPhone or iPad

iOS will not run desktop software, so a browser-based reader is the direct route. It adds to the Home Screen and behaves like an app.

What to do

  1. Open freevce.org in Safari.
  2. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Worth doing rather than skipping: iOS gives installed web apps a stronger storage-persistence tier, so imported exams and progress are less likely to be evicted.
  3. Open it from the Home Screen and import your .vce file from Files, iCloud Drive, or wherever you saved it.

What leaves your device: exam files you import are uploaded to the project's collection, which is how support for more format versions gets added. That is stated on the import screen before you import anything. Your answers, scores and progress stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The app and your imported exams are held on the device, so once it has loaded once you can study with no connection.

Does progress sync between devices?

No. Everything is stored locally on each device and there is no account system, so progress on your phone stays on your phone.
